Does Sciatica Heal Itself?

Sciatic pain is a severe irritation which affects the lower back region of the body and flows from the buttocks to foot via legs. The longevity of the sciatic pain depends upon its inherent cause. Exercise regularly: The exercising habits should be followed for at least 45 minutes daily before going to bed or early in the morning. Remember not to force yourself to do any particular exercise in case the pain is worsening.

Choosing a comfortable mattress: This can be the most important decision because the selection of your mattress decides the positioning of your back and spine. Try to find out a content position which provides maximum comfort.

Activities: While experiencing pain, you can choose any of the following activities:

* Extension based activities: First, lean backward to the maximum extent. Second, while going to sleep try to lie on your stomach which can aggravate your pain encouraging extension.
* Flexion based activities: First, in this posture you have to lean forward to the extreme possible limit. Second, lie on your back and put a pillow under the knees keeping your legs straight. This will also help in dissipating away the pain.

Sleeping position: Most of the doctors recommend sleeping on your back as it provides to be a stable and comfortable position for the spine.

Maintain postures: Try to stick to the proper postures keeping your back and spine straight.

Physical and massage therapies: To calm the affected nerve, physical therapy is a reliable option. Physical therapy provides strength to the back and lower region and cuts down the possibility of degenerative bone disorders. It promotes improved posture and body alignment. Massage therapy by an experienced therapist can be the most effective way to getting relief by releasing pressure and pain.

Yoga: Many of the people suffering from sciatic pain are benefited by yoga poses. Different yoga poses contribute to the physical and mental fitness simultaneously.

Using the methods explained above can heal sciatica and provide the physical and mental strength to the body thus making it more strong to deal with the problem.
