Tips To Prevent Lower Back Pain
| Share |
Back pain is becoming a common problem. Severe attacks of back pain make you helpless and frustrated. Therefore, it is better to prevent this situation than to repent later. Here are a few preventive measures that you can use for the same.
The first thing you need to do is BE AWARE OF YOUR BODY. All the parts of the body are interrelated; one dysfunctional part affects the other. This is the kinetic chain of the body. You must be aware how a right posture creates a right balance in the body. Also, notice the response of your muscles and joints to various activities. For example, sitting would be different from walking and walking would be different from running. Your body reacts differently to every activity you do, so, be aware of it in totality.
Once you know your body, work towards increasing the STRENGTH OF YOUR CORE MUSCLES. The abdominal and the back muscles comprise of the core muscles as these support the frame of the body. Any abnormality in the back muscles or any imbalance between the core muscles so to say makes one prone to back injuries. So, enroll yourself in some core strengthening program like Pilates, water exercise or yoga.
You must USE YOUR BODY WELL. It is seen that in many cases where people get used to doing some activities they tend to use their muscles where ideally they should use their bones. This way you put yourself at the risk of a back injury. Therefore, it is very necessary for you to unlearn these habits however uneasy it may be. Use bones where bones are required and use muscles where the muscles are required.
You must always STAY AGILE AND EXERCISE regularly. Exercising is essential to increase the flexibility of your muscles. If you are prone to back aches, you must do back exercises under the guidance of a professional. Regular exercise improves the blood circulation and prevents aches and injuries. If your work is of stationery nature, you must take regular breaks and stretch your body frequently.
Do you BREATHE THE RIGHT WAY? The muscles that help you breathe are the same that help you maintain a right posture. Thus, the right way of breathing can help strengthen your core muscles a great deal. To build the core strength and for a good postural alignment, you must learn the right way to breathe, say from yoga and Pilates. It would also bring more fluidity in your movements.
Above all, to stay fit and healthy you must maintain the right body weight. Overweight individuals have a weak spine because their body weight exerts unnecessary pressure on the spine. This generally damages the discs of the spinal vertebrae resulting in back ache.
